Background

Julie was employed on the carrier side of insurance for many years. In September 2014 she received a call from an associate here at The Koch Co. regarding a job opportunity in the Benefits department. "I've had the opportunity to work in many different areas of the industry but the Benefits department is truly unlike any other area. It’s not just about the insurance.  We also help our clients educate and communicate to their employees the benefit package available so they can take advantage from the start. " Julie has received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Management and Human Resource Management from Hastings College as well as a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Why Benefits?

The Benefits Specialists work closely with the agents in the management and analysis of an employer’s employee benefit plans. While Employee Benefits are fundamentally a part of insurance, the department can also be involved in non-insurance HR activities.  The Benefits Specialists will work with the clients' HR representatives to assist them with such things as educating their employees, or advising them of legislative requirements applicable to employers.  “The variety of my line of work is the biggest advantage. Whether I am answering questions about enrollment issues, helping resolve a  claim question, or assisting with renewals, I am always helping people. There is nothing more rewarding than receiving an appreciative e-mail or phone call from a client.” Due to the differentiation of work Julie does day to day, she is able to apply her many strengths in various ways. "I have the ability to apply my analytical background when helping agents plan and strategize accounts. Many of my tasks are analytical, but a large part of my job is focused on customer service. Whether we are talking to clients or carriers, we get to interact with and help people every day."

Why Harry A. Koch Co.?

“Scott and the entire Executive team truly do care. They provide us with many tools that help us do our jobs efficiently and ensure that our clients can do theirs just as well. The Executive team also encourages further education and training for both associates and our clients." While at Koch, Julie earned her CEBS designation (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist). The CEBS designation is one of the most respected designations in the benefits industry. For almost five years Julie has combined her extensive knowledge in employee benefits with her passion for helping people to become a strong asset to the company and her clients.
